While some people assume that lifestyle intervention and exercise prescription will be less effective than pharmaceutical intervention, the opposite is usually true: While it’s true that general exercise (ie, group fitness or common personal training) doesn’t tend to target the many guidelines necessary for lasting change, the more clinically-minded, data-driven methods have  been shown to lower HbA1c and glucose levels in people with type 2 diabetes or prediabetes. Lifestyle changes such as adopting a proper meal plan, engaging in the right aerobic conditioning, and reaching an optimal body composition, often significantly improve glycemic control. These changes work by enhancing insulin sensitivity and reducing hepatic glucose production.​ For example, clinical trials have demonstrated that participants following accurate programs not only reduced HbA1c by about 0.31% over a year, but also cut down on the need for glucose-lowering medications​. With the optimal intensities, durations, selections and rest periods, exercise builds cardiovascular health,  promotes fat loss, and builds muscle that aids in normalizing blood glucose levels.

Using a multifactorial approach, your exercise will be accurately suited to your individual needs, fitness levels and health conditions, creating a sustainable path to better blood sugar control, improving quality of life and long-term health outcomes. Your program will also be progressive, with your feedback being crucial to its adjustments.

Start Your Journey

  • Your free week of Hyperglycemia Intervention begins with your Strategy Session and fitness screening. This takes place over Zoom so you can be at home, outdoors, or anywhere using your phone, laptop or tablet, without the need to drive anywhere.
  • After submitting your online investment, Val contacts you to schedule your meetings and workouts.
  • Coach Val selects the initial fitness-related equipment that you’ll need, and ships it to your home (at no charge). More will arrive as your physical fitness progresses.
  • Meet with Val for each scheduled session, using the fitness equipment that was sent to you.
  • You’ll have different needs throughout your program: Some sessions may be entirely exercise-driven, whereas others may need to focus more on mindset, nutrition, lifestyle, supplementation or motivation. Val is intuitive to your needs and you’ll work together to make these decisions.
  • Accountability calls, texts and emails are offered as a regular part of your program, as are health-risk re-assessments, meal planning and goal re-assessment.
